The St. John’s Women’s Guild will be attending a play at the Canterbury Theater, 807 Franklin Street, Michigan City, on Wednesday, July 22nd, at 2:00 pm. They will be seeing “The Taffetans: A Musical Journey Through the Fabulous Fifties.” Cost is $20. If 10 or more adults attend from our group, the cost will be reduced to $15.00. Everyone is invited – women and men! Please contact Karen Lawrenz (219) 872-5087 for more information. You may also sign up on the main bulletin board outside the office.

PRESCHOOL NEWS

St. John’s Preschool will be opening in September for the 2026 – 2027 school year. We have limited openings in the Beginner’s class (for children turning 3 by Aug. 1, 2026), and in the Pre-K class (for children turning 4 by Aug. 1, 2026).

We will need the following supplies, and would greatly appreciate any donations. Supplies needed are:

  • napkins
  • 5 oz. cups
  • hand wipes
  • table wipes
  • tissues
  • paper towels
  • copy paper
  • liquid hand soap
  • colored copy paper

Thank you for your continued support of the Preschool!

BLESSING BAG UPDATE

Thank you to those who have donated money or items for the Guild Blessing Bags. While we can still use all the items originally listed like deodorant, toothpaste, and washcloths… we could really use men’s or women’s socks, lip balm, bars of soap, and toothbrushes. Thank you again for supporting this community charity with us!

ST. JOHN’S CHURCH PICNIC

Keep the later part of August open for our St. John’s family church picnic! Fun & games for all, even a contest for a warm summer day. Watch the New Notes for the date and more information to come!

FOOD BANK

You may notice the corner as you approach the Narthex. It is next to the coat rack and titled “Food Bank.” The area has a few different size containers. The goal is to donate food items such as soups, canned chicken, canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned tuna-fish, noodles, spaghetti sauce. One of our church members has volunteered to deliver these groceries to the Salvation Army at the end of each month. The Salvation Army then hands out these groceries to those in need. We hope you are able to help us feed our neighbors. Thank you for your support!

SANCTUARY CHOIR FORMING

St. John’s would like to have a choir to enhance our Sunday worship. We meet in the Choir Room. Please come & share your vocal talents! Questions? Please contact Dolores (219) 872-2441. Practices are before the Sunday worship at 9:05 am.

OFFICE CLOSED

Please note, the church office will be closed on Monday, July 6th, in honor of the Fourth of July holiday. It will reopen on Thursday, July 9th.
