LADIES, MARK YOUR CALENDARS
The October Guild meeting will be Wednesday, October 15th at 1:00 p.m. in the Youth Lounge. (enter by the back kitchen door.) The program will be a craft creating a folded paper tree from a book. This is very easy to do. Hope to see you there!
PEANUT BRITTLE, ANYONE?
Join our Guild project by making peanut brittle, selling peanut brittle, or simply buying and enjoying it for yourself! All together we can contribute to agencies in our community which serve others. We can make a difference right here in Michigan City! St. John’s will begin offering its famous peanut brittle at $10.50/lb. and just in time for Thanksgiving!
We will be accepting orders for our work dates of Mondays, November 10th & 17th, and Mondays, December 8th and 15th. Orders can be placed in the church office. Tell your family & friends all profits from the sale will be donated to community agencies or to St. John’s projects. If you would like to be a part of our team, a sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board outside the office, or you may talk with Kimberlee Russell.
CERAMICS PAINTING
The New Edition Fellowship Group would like to invite you to paint ceramics with us! We will meet on Sunday, October 19th at 4:00 p.m. at Hometown Ceramics, 2358 N. Hwy 35, La Porte. There is a $5.00 minimum paint charge, plus the cost of any item you select to paint (glazing is extra). They will have ceramic pumpkins, Fall and Halloween items, and possibly some Thanksgiving and Christmas items available too. No RSVP needed, just show up!
“FOR THE CHILDREN” –– IT’S BACK!
One of the Women’s Guild’s favorite community charity projects is “For the Children.” Each fall we focus on collecting winter items for children in our community and then donate them to the Michigan City Salvation Army. They reach out to deserving families to outfit area children. Our goal is to collect clothing items for children ages infant to 11 years. We are asking for donations of all types of clothing items for children:
• winter jackets
• hats
• mittens
• gloves
• scarves
• shirts
• underwear
• diapers
• pullups for babies
• wipes
• etc.
We will have a collection box where you can donate any items. Or, we are glad to do your shopping for you! Any financial donation can be given to the church office or a Guild member. Our goal on winter jackets, for example, is to donate over 20 complete with hat, gloves, and scarf. Because we have excellent, thrifty shoppers in the Guild, a $9 donation will cover the cost of a winter jacket, hat, and mittens! You, you read it correctly, only a $9 donation for all that! So, we ask for you prayers for this project, as well as your donation of items or a financial donation. Thank you for considering this project—For the Children!!
PRESCHOOL GIVE BACK NIGHT
St. John’s Preschool will have a Holly’s Gives Back on Tuesday, October 21st. A percentage of the sales from those using a coupon will be donated to the Preschool. Coupons are available in the church office, narthex, & bulletin board. Thank you for supporting the Preschool!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO READ THE SUNDAY CHILDREN’S MESSAGE
Volunteers are needed to read a short story for the children in attendance on Sunday mornings. Please contact Kim Russell (219) 809–3770 for more information, or you may sign up on the bulletin board outside the office.
LITURGISTS NEEDED
We need your help in serving as a Liturgist! Would you like to start off 2026 becoming more involved in your church? This is a perfect way to help spread God’s word on Sunday mornings! Scheduling for the upcoming 2026 Liturgists is now in process. We need you! There have been several faithful Liturgists that have needed to “retire” because of various reasons; please help this beautiful mission at St. John’s continue! Please call the church office (219) 872–9121 and let us know if you’d like to be put on the schedule. Thank you very much!!
