NWAIKC 2026 SPRING MEETING ~ TODAY ~
The Northwest Association of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ will hold its
NWAIKC 2026 Spring Meeting today, Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. Eastern / 3 p.m. Central time.
St. John’s UCC is in the IKC Search and Call process. In our NWA Spring and Fall meetings, we generally have time for discussion. St. John’s members with questions concerning our Search and Call process might join in.
PEANUT BRITTLE REPORT
At the April Guild meeting the final Peanut Brittle report was given. Donations of our profits will now be sent to Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, St. John’s Pre School, Humane Society, Roof Sit of Laporte Co., and a $570 anniversary gift to St. John’s Church. Thank you to all St. John’s members and friends who supported us in this project!
SEARCH TEAM UPDATE
The Bridge, now Search, Team has been meeting with our church board as well as having Zoom meetings with Monica Ouellette. She has provided us with information on interviewing and has connected us with other churches who are also looking for a pastor. As Monica informed us when she came and spoke to us, this is a slow process. Finding the right pastor for our church takes time. We continue to look for all possible avenues to find who God wants as our next pastor. Please continue to pray for His leading.
FOOD BANK
You may notice the corner as you approach the Narthex. It is next to the coat rack and titled “Food Bank.” The area has a few different size containers. The goal is to donate food items such as soups, canned chicken, canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned tuna-fish, noodles, spaghetti sauce. One of our church members has volunteered to deliver these groceries to the Salvation Army at the end of each month. The Salvation Army then hands out these groceries to those in need. We hope you are able to help us feed our neighbors. Thank you for your support!
JOIN ST. JOHN’S 170th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
- Come hear organist John Carington for our Communion service Sunday, May 3rd, at 10 a.m.
- Also, we have St. John’s history in slides that same day from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- Celebrate the Ascension on May 14th with our special services 6 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. in the chapel.
- And enjoy our catered lunch to celebrate our history on May 17th after the 10 a.m. service.
Our anniversary celebration starts next week with each of the following Sundays in May exhibiting remembrances of our past. Pictures of our previous years starting at 9:30 a.m. will be shown in the Sanctuary. Enjoy the hard working seriousness and fun times our members shared. If you have an opportunity, visit our chapel and reflect on our ministers standing in the pulpit, sharing the Word of God, the stained glass windows that were saved from auction, the altar that you might have been married or confirmed in its presence. Look in the library at the many items which can relate to our families. Their financial support as well as hard labor and love formed what we have today. This is our history of St. John’s, as quoted in our Dedication, May 19, 1968, “No task is ever complete, each milestone points to the future.”
COME TO OUR CATERED LUNCHEON
Come to our catered luncheon immediately following the church service on Sunday, May 17th. Enjoy good food, fellowship, Barber Shop Quartet, and some fun. Please sign up on bulletin board by April 29th so we can get a headcount.
