DEACON’S AND BENEVOLENCE FUNDS UPDATE

Regarding St. John’s Deacon’s and Benevolence Funds, St. John’s will no longer be passing out any cards for assistance. Instead, we will serve the community by working with the Homeless coalition and helping them financially until a new pastor is hired. Any community organizations that call for assistance will be directed to Nicole and she will make the decision whether or not to assist. Any Deacon’s request (church members needing assistance) will be directed to Jerry Montgomery. Any questions or uncertain situations will be directed to Jerry Montgomery.

CAN YOU HELP?

The Women’s Guild has received a letter from our local Salvation Army stating an urgent need and asking if we could contribute any financial assistance before October. They are seeing a 60% increase in the number of citizens they are serving compared to a few years ago. The Guild will be sending our contribution and wanted the congregation to be aware of this need also. Their letter is posted on the bulletin board.

BLESSING BAGS

We are still in need of items for our Blessing Bags––bars of soap, deodorant, toothpaste, socks. This collection will conclude about the first of September.  Some of these completed bags will go to the Salvation Army. Thank you for your support and prayers to these initiatives.
